And finally, put the drumroll! The most under-rated Real Madrid player is 27-year-old Argentine attacking midfielder Angel Di Maria. Apart from bringing glory to his country by scoring the winning goal in 2008 Olympics and winning 60 caps for his country, this 5’10” winger has brought glory to Real Madrid also. Scoring 36 goals in 191 appearances, he was part of the winning team that won 2011-12 La Liga, 2010-11 and 2013-14 Copa del Rey, 2014 UEFA Super Cup, 2013-14 UEFA Champions League, etc.

He was also the Man of the Match of the final match for 2014 UEFA Champions League and won the 2014 Olimpia de Plata award. Still, after achieving so much, he isn’t regarded as one of the top seeds for the club by many fans. Well, after reading and going through his whole career, a lot of people might want to reconsider that, and very rightfully so.

Coming in at the second spot on our list of 10 most under-rated Real Madrid player 29-year-old Croatian midfielder Luka Modric. Now, this man joined the club in 2012 and has made 129 appearances so far. He was awarded as La Liga’s Best Midfielder in 2013-14 and has been part of five winning moments for his team, including 2013-14 Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League. But despite proving himself as a major catalyst in his team’s win, we feel he hasn’t enjoyed that much appreciation for other star players of his team, which is a shame in itself.

Fabio Coentrao

under rated Real Madrid players

27-year-old Portuguese left back player comes at number 3 on our list. Since his joining in 2011, he has made 55 appearances. He also helped his team win 6 major championships, including the 2011-12 La Liga, the 2012 Supercopa de Espana, the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup, to mention a few. Now, we feel that he has been overshadowed by some of the biggest names in Real Madrid, and that’s what has kept him out of the ‘big league’, but it might very soon change for the good.

Michael Owen

under rated Real Madrid players

The fourth most under-rated Real Madrid player is 35-year-old English striker Michael Owen. Many people might not remember his Real Madrid career, but take this – In his 1-year tenure with the club from 2004-2005, he scored 13 goals out of 36 appearances. If that’s not impressive, we don’t know what is! By the way, did we mention that when he started playing for England in 1998, he was England’s youngest player and youngest goal scorer at the time. Just mentioning!

Casimiro

23-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder Casemiro comes next at fifth spot. One of the newbies, his tenure in Real Madrid has started in 2013. But, even from his 13 appearances so far, he has proved that he is forced to reckon with. A contributing member of the winning team of 2013-14 UEFA Champions League and Copa del Rey, this Latin fella could very well become the next big thing in football.

Standing at 6’2”, number 8 on this list is 22-year-old Spanish striker Alvaro Morata. His journey in the team lasted 4 years, from 2010 to 2014. He was one of the members of the club when it won the 2011-12 La Liga, the 2012 Supercopa de Espana, the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League, among many others. Raphael Varane

under rated Real Madrid players
