In the year 2007, when Marchesin was still associated with Huracán de Tres Arroyos in his home town, Buenos Aeres, Club Atlético Lanús signed him, though he remained a non-participating player on the squad of Lanús which went on to win the Apertura tournament in the same year. Is career officially began after two years. Marchesín debuted in competitive football in March 2009, in a match against Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy, another Argentine team. Before becoming part of the first team of Argentina, Marchesín became the starting keeper for the U21 national team of Argentina which ended in the third place in the Toulon Tournament 2009. He was first called up to join the senior team in August 2010, and was invited to play in a friendly game against Spain. He earned his first international cap for his national team in a friendly game in which Argentina faced Venezuela, in March 2011. He was brought into the game as a substitute in the half time of the match that ended in a victory for Argentina with a score of 4–1. After this, there was a huge gap in his international career. After a gap of almost four years, he was called up again for the first time in September 2014, he was invited by Gerardo Martino to become part of the squad of Argentina in friendly games in which the team would face Brazil and Hong Kong. He played in the latter match, against Hong Kong, which helped him earn his second cap with the team.

In the next year, he assumed his responsibility as a keeper of the national team, as a result of for Argentina’s national team after Mariano Andújar’s injury in Copa América. After his displays in 2014, he was again called up to be part of the squad of Argentina in the Copa América 2015. This was right after the injury sustained by Mariano Andújar in the middle of the tournament. Argentina ended the tournament as the runner up. In September 2017, Jorge Sampaoli gave him the first call-up to join the qualification games of World Cup 2018, playing against Peru and Ecuador in October.
