Javier Pastore is a professional football player who represents the national team of Argentina as the attacking midfielder, besides appearing in Ligue 1 team Paris Saint-Germain. Pastore started playing with Talleres and moved to Huracán in Argentina before he moved to Serie A’s Palermo for €4.7 million in 2009. In 2011, Paris Saint-Germain signed him for €39.8 million.

Javier Pastore Early Career

Pastore started playing in the youth programme of Argentine club Talleres in 2002. Gradually, he worked hard enough to reach the first team of the club. He then debuted in the second division of the Argentine team in 2007, with Ricardo Gareca as the manager. He succeeded in appearing in just five matches in that year.

In 2008, Pastore joined the Argentine Primera team Huracán on a loan. He professionally debuted for the team in May 2008 in a match against River Plate which ended in a 1–0 defeat. This tournament proved to be a breakthrough for him, though his team missed the championship title narrowly. In August 2011, it was formally announced that Paris Saint-Germain had signed Pastore, with a transfer fee of €39.8 million. But, because of the third-party ownership that led agent Marcelo Simonian to get €12.5 million, the amount received by the club was announced online as €22.8 million out of the total fee. Maurizio Zamparini, the president of the club, took a legal action, even though they were prohibited by the FIGC from entering an ownership agreement with any third party.

Pastore’s first goal was in a Ligue 1 game Stade Brestois in September 2011, which ended in a 1–0 win. In his first season with the team, he scored 13 goals in 33 games of the league. The next year, he played in 34 league matches, as his team emerged victorious in the first one out of the four consecutive titles of Ligue 1. After several great displays in his first season in Serie A, he got a call-up from manager Diego Maradona to unofficially appear in the friendly against the Argentine national team in December 2009. Pastore scored a goal in his debut match. However, as it was not recognised by FIFA, he did not get a cap. Maradona eventually called him again to appear in a friendly against Germany, but he did not appear in the match.

He debuted officially against Canada in May 2010, and he eventually became part of the 23-player squad for World Cup 2010. In June, he debuted in the World Cup against Greece. Pastore was born in a city called Córdoba in the centre of Argentina. He belongs to an Italian-Argentine family which originates in Volvera, Turin. Javier also has a brother named Juan. He was born and raised a Catholic. He is in a relationship with Italian TV presenter Chiara Picone, and the two have a daughter together, named Martina.
