English footballer Jordan Henderson currently plays as a central midfielder in the England national team besides being the captain of the English Premier League club Liverpool. He started his football journey with Sunderland in 2008, and shortly after, spent a brief period at Coventry City on loan in 2009. Henderson started his footballing journey with the youth academy system of Sunderland at the age of just eight. He then signed his first professional contract with the club on 1st July 2008. Henderson made his first appearance for the club against Chelsea on 1st November 2008 as a substitute. He then made his first start for Sunderland in a League Cup match against Blackburn Rovers. Shortly after, Henderson moved to Championship club Coventry City on loan for a season in January 2009, and made his debut against Derby County. He scored his first senior goal for Coventry against Norwich City on 28th February 2009. Henderson returned to Sunderland after a fracture in his foot in April 2009.

Henderson moved to Liverpool for an estimated transfer fee of £20 million on 9th June 2011. He made his debut for the reds in a Premier League match against his former team Sunderland on that season. He then scored his first goal for the club against Bolton Wanderers at Anfield on 27th August 2011. Henderson was an integral part of the Liverpool squad that won the 2012 League Cup Final against Cardiff City. He then scored his first competitive European goal in a UEFA Europa League match against Udinese on 6th December 2012. Henderson made his 100th appearance for Liverpool against his former club Sunderland on 29th September 2014.
