Renato Sanches Bayern Munch Career

Renato joined Bayern Munich in 2016, after being hunted extensively by Manchester United. He signed a deal of five years with the German club for €35million, with another €45million based on objectives. He is thus the most expensive footballer of Portugal to leave domestic league, and the first to become part of the Bavarian club. Post his recovery from a thigh injury, he appeared for his team, and despite hs errors, both, the captain Phillip Lahm as well as goalkeeper Manuel Neuer realized he is an amazing player, and a future asset to the team.

The same year he won the Golden Boy award as the best European footballer under 21 years of age – the first ever Portuguese soccer player to gain it. Unfortunately, Sanches failed to score any goal or make an assist. Dafydd Pritchard, the BBC Sport reporter, described his performance as a “mixed beginning” because of the passing mistakes. In November 2017, Sanches was subbed at half time in a match against Chelsea, after his pass went into the ad boards along the side of the ground. He has so far appeared in 12 matches for Swansea City.

Sanches was born in Lisbon Metropolitan Area. His grandmother nicknamed him Bulo. He had to grow up n an impoverished neighbourhood of Musgueira in Lisbon. Sanches’ birth could not be registered in time because of the split between his parents, and his father’s move to France for work, and it was done only after Renato’s father returned in 2002. He was baptized by his parents, and was registered in 2002 with the birth date of 18 August 1997. As a result of this gap in the registration of his birthday, there have been many questions raised about his age. Sanchez was only eight years old when he started his training at Águias da Musgueira.

Renato’s father, also named Renato Sanches, is from São Tomé and Príncipe, while his mother, named Maria das Dores, is from Cape Verde.
