Dota Asia Championships (DAC), 2015

Dota Asia Championships (DAC), 2015 Is one of the Impressive eSports Championships

At number 1 of eSports Championships Worldwide, The Dota 2 Asia Championships, aka DAC 2015 and as The Oriental, is a tournament arranged by Perfect World and MarsTV. With some basic similarities to The Internationals such as, the quality of recent results of the teams directly invited and of those invited to the qualifiers, the thematic format of the tournament, the release of a compendium,and the size of the total prize pool reached by the sale of compendiums totally with the initial prize pool, and with the unusual difference of the location of the LAN finals being in Shanghai, China, a city in the East. Not so much as Seattle, Washington, USA or Cologne, Germany, cities in the West, the DAC 2015 has since been referred to as The International of the East.

The Manila Major, 2016


At number 2 in our list, the Manila Major is the third event of Valve’s Dota Major Championships. The main event venue is at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. The Manila Major 2016 is the third seasonal Valve-sponsored Major to be arranged, after the Shanghai Major 2016. The event would be organized by Romanian gaming company PGL eSports, and take place between June 7th – 12th at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. Like previous Majors, it had featured 16 teams competing for a total prize pool of $3 million USD. Promotional item information was on full throttle. The main event took place at the Mall of Asia Arena from June 7–12, 2016

The International 2015

The International 2015 Is one of the Splendid eSports Championships

At number 3 of eSports Championships Worldwide, The International Dota 2 Championships 2015 was the fifth annual edition of The International. The tournament was organized in Seattle for its fourth consecutive year, and the second consecutive year that the Main Event venue was at KeyArena, a multi-purpose arena in Seattle Center with a total seating capacity of over 17,000. The tournament was formally announced on January 7, 2015. Notably, the Main Event at KeyArena had featured 16 teams, an increase from the 8 of The International 2014.

The International 2014


The International Dota 2 Championships was organized in Seattle, Washington. This tournament was the fourth edition of The International, and interestingly it was the third consecutive year that the tournament had been hosted in Seattle. Unlike the previous two years though, the tournament was held at the KeyArena, which is a multi-purpose arena in Seattle Center with a total seating capacity of over 17,000 people.

A grand total of 16 teams had competed in the main event of the tournament. 11 of these players received a direct invite, while 4 teams had to qualify through separate regional qualifiers. And it happened with the runners-up in those qualifiers getting one last shot at competing for the final spot in the main tournament.

With a staggering prize pool of over $2,500,000 USD, there has never been a Halo tournament with bigger stakes. It also happens to be the first major tournament featuring guest teams from all over of the world.

The International 2013


The International Dota 2 Championship was organized in Seattle, Washington, at the Benaroya Hall. It was the world’s biggest Dota 2 tournament, based on prize pool. The event took place from August 8 to August 11, 2013, at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Washington. This event is the third tournament to carry the name ‘The International.’ The first International was held back in 2011 at Gamescom while the second International was held in 2012 in Seattle. Out of the 16 contestant teams, 13 were invited, with two of the rest of the teams receiving their place in the tournament through two invite-only geographic qualifier tournaments, the “West Qualifier” and then the “East Qualifier.” The final team received their place by claiming the Wildcard Match between the runners-up of the two qualifier tournaments.

At number 7 of eSports Championships Worldwide, The 2015 League of Legends World Championship was held from October 1–31, 2015 for the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game League of Legends. It happened to be the fifth iteration of the League of Legends World Championship. The many stages of the event were arranged in various cities across Europe: the group stages in Le Dock Pullman, in Paris, France; the quarterfinals at the Wembley Arena in London, England; the semifinals took place in the Brussels Expo in Brussels, Belgium; and the finals at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany.

The Shanghai Major, 2016 Is one of the Top eSports Championships

At number 8 of eSports Championships Worldwide, The Shanghai Major, aka the Winter Major, was a Dota 2tournament that had occurred in Shanghai from March 2–6, 2016, and it was the second Major of the 2015-2016 professional Dota 2 season. 16 teams took part in the tournament; eight were given direct invitations and the other eight had to qualify through various qualifying tournament around the world. The Major was claimed by Team Secret, who defeated Team Liquid in the best count of five series 3-1.

Smite World Championships, 2015


Smite World Championship is the popular annual world championship for the multiplayer online fighting arena video game Smite. From January 9–11, 2015 Hi-Rez Studios had hosted the first Smite World Championship. Various teams from North America, South America, Europe, and China had traveled to Atlanta, Georgia for the tournament. The staggering $2.6 million prize pool for the tournament was contemporarily the third-highest in eSports, behind the third and fourth iterations of Dota 2’s The International. It was just slightly ahead of the League of Legends World Championships. One of the North American teams, COGnitive Prime, won the first place prize with a little over $1.3 million.

The Frankfurt Major, 2015

The Frankfurt Major, 2015 Is one of the Best eSports Championships

The Main Event was organized at Festhalle Messe, a multi-purpose concert hall in Frankfurt, Germany with a huge seating capacity of over 9,800; it had featured the same Main Event format as The International 2015. The Electronic Sports League (ESL) hosted and also organized the tournament. Eight teams received direct invitations, in an announcement on October 5. Regional Qualifiers took place on October 10–13, while the Open Qualifiers, conveniently open to any player, were run on October 6–9. Registration for the Open Qualifiers began on October 1.
