Spanish footballer Koke, born as Jorge Resurrección Merodio, currently plays as a midfielder for the La Liga side Atlético Madrid besides playing regularly for the national squad of Spain. He joined the Youth Academy of Atlético Madrid in 2000, at the age of just 8. During his rigorous training program between 2000 and 2008, he earned his promotion through several age groups. The reserve side noticed his talent and expressed their wish to promote him to the B team in 2008. He made his debut for the reserve side that year and earned promotion to the first squad the following season. Even after his debut for the first-squad in 2008, Koke mostly played for the Atlético Madrid B team till 2011.

Koke made his debut for the Atlético Madrid first team against one of the richest football clubs, Barcelona, on 19 September 2009 as a substitute. His first La Liga goal came two years later against Sevilla FC on 26th February 2011 from a brilliant header. In his debut season of 2010-11, he scored twice in 17 total appearances for the club. The following season, he scored his first La Liga goal against Real Betis on 29th April 2012.
