Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recently made a comment that by winning the match against Manchester City, his team has made the “right statement”. With this win, the managed to break Manchester City’s streak of no losses in Premier League this season.  And it seems particularly crucial to Liverpool, because this was their first match since they sold Philippe Coutinho to Spanish giants Barcelona. The transfer of Coutinho was finalized at £142 million, and just six days later, Liverpool earned a good win against this season’s most successful Premier League team, after putting up an amazing show at Anfield, even though Virgil van Dijk, their £75 m defender, was missing, because of an injury. Klopp insists that t was an important statement, but added that that is all it is, because he has the realization that this win is not going to silence people and stop them from talking about Coutinho, but they have managed to show the world that it is possible to play without the Brazilian.

Liverpool’s win brought disappointment to Manchester City, as they were eyeing the 2003-04 act of “Invincible” by Arsenal. Liverpool led the game with goals by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The last three goals happened within just 8 min. Oxlade-Chamberlain’s opener had been cancelled by Leroy Sane, and in the last 6 min, two goals were scored by substitute Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan.

Klopp called it a historic day, because this might be the only moss of the season for Manchester City because they are so strong. But he also believes that Liverpool deserved the win. They had to play against a side that’s not only great at soccer, but is also amazingly organized, according to Klopp. City is at the top of the Premier League table at the moment, with 62 points.
