On his way through the tunnel before the kick-off, Ronaldo, in his blood-covered shirt and an injured face, was approached by a young boy who was the mascot. We have all seen how excited those children in the role of mascots can get when they see their favourite players. This match day mascot of Ronaldo got the player involved in a conversation, in which the boy expressed his love for Ronaldo as well as Messi, the best two players in the world today, who, unfortunately, are pitted against each other constantly, turning them into rivals.

So this little said that for him, Ronaldo is the best soccer player in the world; he was about to complete the sentence by saying something about Messi, but the moment the boy took the name of the Barcelona player, Ronaldo cut his sentence short and added, “is bad,” to complete the boy’s sentence, which basically led to a sentence, “Messi is bad,” as he gave a thumbs-up to the boy. Obviously, this was nothing more than just a cheeky quip by Ronaldo, and his Real Madrid teammates reacted with a chuckle when they heard Ronaldo.

The Ronaldo vs Messi debate rises again

There’s probably no reason to believe that this was something Ronaldo said to disrespect Messi, because as a footballer, we can only assume that Ronaldo understands Messi’s greatness; this quip was just a childish way to have a laugh at the expense of the Barcelona player, who shares the place with Ronaldo as the player with the highest number of Ballon d’Or awards.
